Alyssa Nakken made history as the first full-time female coach in Major League Baseball when she joined the San Francisco Giants coaching staff in 2020. Her groundbreaking achievement was further cemented in 2022 when she became the first woman to coach on the field during a Major League game.
Nakken began her journey with the Giants organization in 2014 as a baseball operations intern, contributing to health and wellness programs while gaining hands on experience in player development and team performance. She earned her master’s degree in sports management from the University of San Francisco in 2015 and previously competed as a collegiate softball standout at Sacramento State University.
In her coaching role, Alyssa focuses on player development, team dynamics and fostering an inclusive culture within a historically male dominated sport. Her leadership emphasizes accountability, communication and collaboration, helping teams perform at their highest level while building environments where everyone can contribute.
