Employees need superior technical abilities; however, this is only one half of the equation needed to increase the success of your organization.

Management and leaders must focus on the skills necessary to work with others and get the best results from their teams. Real leadership is about inspiring, motivating and igniting passion in others.

You can do this by applying emotional intelligence. The good news is that is can be learned from Dale Choquette.

Tuning into and focusing on emotions in the workplace is a strong component in effectively managing in today’s workplace. It’s people, not things that get results.

The golden rule says “treat others the way you want to be treated”.

However, it’s not necessarily the best practice when it comes to communication styles as it assumes everyone is just like you.

Do you often wonder why you can say something to one person, and it’s taken the way you meant it.

Then you say that same thing to another person, it’s taken the wrong way? The communication styles of the people you engage with will impact the way you lead, interact with your team, and how you collaborate with others.

In this fun and interactive keynote, you will identify your communication style and explore tools and techniques to allow you to better leverage your style. You will also be able to identify your team members’ communication styles.

Here’s what Dale Choquette will cover:

    • Identify the 4 basic communication styles
    • Discover what each team member brings to the table
    • Learn to flex your communication style
    • Gain the ability to build stronger connections

    Talent Short Bio

Dale Choquette is a leadership keynote speaker, team-building facilitator, and workplace communication expert who helps organizations develop stronger leaders, improve collaboration, and build high-performing teams. As the creator of The Marathon Principle, Dale uses the powerful metaphor of marathon running to demonstrate how commitment, resilience, adaptability, and teamwork are essential for achieving long-term organizational success.

After spending more than 20 years in the corporate world, including 16 years as a Certified Professional Purchaser in the pharmaceutical industry, Dale gained firsthand experience navigating organizational change, cross-functional collaboration, and team dynamics. Her corporate background, combined with her experience completing nine marathons, provides a unique perspective on overcoming challenges, sustaining momentum, and achieving ambitious goals.

Dale’s presentations focus on helping individuals understand different personality styles, improve communication, manage conflict constructively, and develop stronger workplace relationships. She believes that organizations perform at their highest level when people understand one another, communicate with intention, and work toward a shared vision.

Dale Choquette is the woman behind “The Marathon Principle”. Sixteen plus years as a Certified Professional Purchaser in the pharmaceutical industry didn’t prepare her for running marathons. It did prepare her for working with organizations who are successful and want to excel in communications, team building and leadership.

Dale Choquette knows that running 9 marathons takes commitment, flexibility and determination much like anything you do in business. She also knows about hitting the wall and how to help her clients get past the wall. She provides the fuel businesses need so that they can be in the 1% of organizations that get audacious results.

Dale Choquette motto is – “Run healthy. Run strong. Run together. Run long”

Races are frustrating when everyone is running in different directions. So are organizations. During my 20 years in the corporate world, Dale worked with 5 different teams and saw the challenges of bringing people together to strive toward a shared goal. She realized that each one of us has a different personality and communication style, and a different set of behaviours for coping with conflict. Even with the best of intentions, efforts often get sidelined because we don’t hear one another and connect.

In the course of your career, you have likely felt the pain of this struggle. Success is within view but out of reach, across a wide chasm of miscommunication. Yet it’s closer than you may think, if you have the tools to understand yourself and those around you.

Her own frustrations motivated her to seek solutions, to find better ways to connect with her teammates.

    Talent FAQ's

Speaker fees can vary depending on factors such as expertise, demand, and event specifics. While some speakers may charge a flat fee for their services, others may have hourly rates. It’s best to discuss fee structures directly with the speaker or their representative to understand the pricing model.

Keynote speeches typically range from 30 to 90 minutes, with the duration determined by the speaker’s expertise, the event’s agenda, and audience preferences. Keynote speeches often include a combination of inspirational stories, practical insights, and actionable advice tailored to the event’s theme or objectives.

The scale of the event and audience size can indeed impact a speaker’s fee. Larger events with a broader reach or higher attendance may command higher fees due to increased exposure and demand. Conversely, smaller events or niche audiences may offer opportunities for more flexible pricing arrangements.

Travel expenses such as transportation, accommodation, and meals are typically negotiated separately from the speaker’s fee. These costs vary depending on the speaker’s location, travel distance, and event duration. It’s important to clarify travel arrangements and expenses during the booking process to avoid misunderstandings.

Many speakers require a deposit to secure a booking, with the remaining balance due closer to the event date. Deposits are often non-refundable and serve as a commitment from both parties. It’s advisable to discuss deposit requirements and payment terms with the speaker or their representative when finalizing the booking.

    • Virtual speaking appearances are a cost-effective alternative to high speaking fees, often 10-50% cheaper than in-person rates.
    • There is typically no difference in fee for a 15-minute speech versus a 60-minute speech.
    • Some motivational speakers are open to discounting their fee if hired for more than one event by the same organization.
    • When browsing speakers, consider their location to keep travel costs down.
    • Personal connections to your organization or event location can increase your chances of securing a renowned speaker.
    • Be upfront about your needs and expectations to ensure a successful partnership.
    • Speaker bureaus like Speakers Inc help guide you through the booking process to negotiate the best deal with favorable terms.
