He launched the company with a college roommate while studying at University of Virginia, and the platform quickly grew into one of the largest websites on the internet. The company was funded by Y Combinator in 2005 and sold to Condé Nast in 2006.
Ohanian later returned to Reddit as executive chairman to help lead the company’s transformation and renewed growth as an independent platform valued at billions of dollars. He is also the co-founder of Initialized Capital, where he has invested early in some of the most successful technology startups of the last decade, including Coinbase, Instacart, Opendoor, and Patreon.
