    Keynote Topics

To navigate globalization, every business decision-maker weighs economic variables when considering overseas investments or market exposure. But to spot crucial opportunities and manage risk, they must also understand the political factors and trends changing our world in real-time. Whether it’s increasingly contentious relations between China and the United States, the war in Ukraine, a more complex regulatory environment in Europe, a newly global focus from India, surges of populism in Latin America, heightened competition in Africa, or dozens of other politically driven trends, political analyst and entrepreneur Ian Bremmer will detail how political risk is creating new sets of business winners and losers.

At this presentation, audiences will learn:

How to spot political risk on the horizon and balance it against economic opportunities’
How to understand the opportunities, and dangers, of multilayered relations between Washington and Beijing
How to identify the broader trends remaking tomorrow’s global balance of power
How to process the technological changes now transforming geopolitics

For the past 15 years, the post-Cold War global order has been breaking down, leaving us to respond to a series of crises with both political, market, and business implications. Ian Bremmer explains that geopolitics has entered a bust cycle.

The world’s most powerful country— the United States — has become the most politically dysfunctional rich-world country. The world’s most important bilateral relationship — US-China —is deteriorating more quickly than leaders can build new guardrails. Today’s global institutions no longer reflect the world’s true balance of power. The result: a growing vacuum of leadership and cross-border coordination.

This geopolitical recession will continue to limit our ability to respond to crises like the pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine war, climate change, and the emergence of disruptive new technologies.

Ian will share ideas and insights to help policymakers and business decision-makers navigate a world in accelerating transition.

In a G-Zero world, one without strong and sustainable international leadership, Ian Bremmer argues we are unprepared for a trio of looming crises—future global health emergencies, transformative climate change, and the next technological revolution. Ian discusses the geopolitics of…

War in Ukraine: How will Russia’s challenge to the existing international system and China’s ongoing effort to find the most profitable role to play in ending it shape the next security order and the future of the global economy?

Climate change: What risks will it create for political and business decision-makers in years to come, and what lessons can it teach us about the future of international cooperation?

Tech: Ian assesses the growing risks of AI, quantum computing, cyberwarfare, and their impact on the future of government, trade, and the international system.

What comes after the G-Zero world order?

Today, it’s not governments but the world’s powerhouse tech companies that set the rules in the digital world. They, not our elected leaders, decide how you and I share ideas and information. They have extraordinary real-time, real-world power. How will the technology titans use that power?

They will transform the ways we work, think, learn, play, and live. We will have longer, healthier and more productive lives that would dazzle those who lived only in a dial-up world. But these same tech companies will also decide the world’s balance of military power, create new trade and investment patterns, and decide the outcome of our race to save the planet from a human-created climate catastrophe.

Ian Bremmer will argue that the tech titans will determine the next world order – and whether we have a brighter future or a world without freedom.

The Next Global Superpower Isn’t Who You Think | Ian Bremmer | TED (14:58)

In this TED Talk, Ian Bremmer explores why the next global superpower isn’t a nation — it’s technology — and what this means for governments, companies, and citizens.

    Summary

In this thought-provoking TED Talk, Ian Bremmer argues that the 21st century’s most powerful force isn’t a country — it’s technology. He begins by framing the concept of the “G-Zero World”, where no nation has both the will and capacity to lead global governance. In this vacuum, power is shifting toward the private technology sector — to companies that control data, AI, and digital infrastructure.

Bremmer highlights how major tech corporations now wield influence once reserved for superpowers, shaping economies, public opinion, and even geopolitics. He cites examples from social media’s role in elections to AI’s potential to transform warfare and governance. Unlike governments, these corporations operate globally without accountability to citizens, creating a new form of geopolitical tension between states and Silicon Valley.

He concludes by calling for collaboration between policymakers and technologists to establish digital governance frameworks that protect humanity’s shared interests. Without cooperation, he warns, the future could be dominated not by democracy or dictatorship — but by unregulated technology that governs us all.

    Key Moments

    • 01:51–05:30 — How technology companies have become geopolitical actors
    • 05:31–08:10 — The rise of AI, data dominance, and algorithmic power
    • 08:11–11:00 — The challenge of accountability and governance in tech
    • 11:01–13:30 — The future of digital power: cooperation or control

Ian Bremmer explains the roots of grievance-based populism and how emotional narratives, rather than ideology, now define political movements around the world.

    Summary

In this interview segment, Ian Bremmer discusses the foundation of former President Donald Trump’s enduring popularity, framing it as part of a broader global phenomenon of grievance-based populism. He explains that Trump’s message resonates not primarily because of policies, but because it taps into feelings of economic displacement, cultural insecurity, and distrust toward elites and institutions.

Ian situates this dynamic within a global trend, drawing parallels between populist movements in the U.S., Europe, and beyond. He notes that globalization has left segments of society feeling marginalized, creating fertile ground for leaders who promise recognition and belonging through opposition to “the establishment.”

He emphasizes that grievance politics thrives in environments where traditional media, social networks, and political structures amplify anger and division rather than offering solutions. Ian concludes that understanding this shift is critical — not just for politics, but for any organization seeking to navigate the new reality of emotionally driven leadership and public discourse.

    Talent FAQ's

Speaker fees can vary depending on factors such as expertise, demand, and event specifics. While some speakers may charge a flat fee for their services, others may have hourly rates. It’s best to discuss fee structures directly with the speaker or their representative to understand the pricing model.

Keynote speeches typically range from 30 to 90 minutes, with the duration determined by the speaker’s expertise, the event’s agenda, and audience preferences. Keynote speeches often include a combination of inspirational stories, practical insights, and actionable advice tailored to the event’s theme or objectives.

The scale of the event and audience size can indeed impact a speaker’s fee. Larger events with a broader reach or higher attendance may command higher fees due to increased exposure and demand. Conversely, smaller events or niche audiences may offer opportunities for more flexible pricing arrangements.

Travel expenses such as transportation, accommodation, and meals are typically negotiated separately from the speaker’s fee. These costs vary depending on the speaker’s location, travel distance, and event duration. It’s important to clarify travel arrangements and expenses during the booking process to avoid misunderstandings.

Many speakers require a deposit to secure a booking, with the remaining balance due closer to the event date. Deposits are often non-refundable and serve as a commitment from both parties. It’s advisable to discuss deposit requirements and payment terms with the speaker or their representative when finalizing the booking.

    • Virtual speaking appearances are a cost-effective alternative to high speaking fees, often 10-50% cheaper than in-person rates.
    • There is typically no difference in fee for a 15-minute speech versus a 60-minute speech.
    • Some motivational speakers are open to discounting their fee if hired for more than one event by the same organization.
    • When browsing speakers, consider their location to keep travel costs down.
    • Personal connections to your organization or event location can increase your chances of securing a renowned speaker.
    • Be upfront about your needs and expectations to ensure a successful partnership.
    • Speaker bureaus like Speakers Inc help guide you through the booking process to negotiate the best deal with favorable terms.
