A short, high impact clip featuring Dan Stockdale introducing an endangered Bengal tiger cub and sharing a powerful real world story that becomes a memorable leadership lesson on resilience and never giving up.
This 2 minute 57 second clip showcases Dan Stockdale in a live presentation, introduced as “the tiger guy,” setting the stage for a wildlife infused leadership message. Dan begins by inviting a high energy volunteer to join him, then introduces Sadie, an eight week old Bengal tiger cub. He explains that Bengal tigers are among the most endangered species in the world, noting that the global wild population has fallen from roughly 100,000 a century ago to only about 2,500 today.
Dan shifts to a second tiger, Madras, using her story to illustrate the dramatic and often life altering work conducted at Tiger Haven. He explains that Madras was born to a first time mother who accidentally sat on the cub’s neck shortly after birth, causing a significant curvature and leaving veterinarians convinced the animal had no viable chance of survival. The initial recommendation was euthanasia. Before that could occur, someone remembered Tiger Haven, home to the world’s largest population of tigers and the largest medical database for tiger care.
Dan recounts how their team retrieved the injured cub, partnered with an acupuncturist willing to attempt treatment, and began an intensive rehabilitation process. He contrasts an early photo of Madras with a current one, showing her dramatic recovery. This becomes the foundation for the leadership takeaway.
Dan closes by asking the audience to reflect on the “Madras” in their own lives. Whether it is a project, a challenge, a relationship, or a dream they have been tempted to abandon, he encourages them to adopt a mindset of resilience. His message is clear and universal: never give up, even when the situation appears hopeless. The wildlife story becomes a memorable metaphor for perseverance and possibility.
