April Showers is a trailblazing entrepreneur, author, and keynote speaker whose work sits at the intersection of belief, execution, and ownership. Raised in South Central Los Angeles, April’s entrepreneurial journey began at a young age and has evolved into building one of the most recognizable Black-owned character brands in the country.
She is the founder and CEO of Afro Unicorn®, the first Black woman-owned fully licensed character brand in major retail, with products sold nationwide across multiple categories. Under her leadership, Afro Unicorn has grown into a global brand generating over $20 million in retail sales, including the #1 Black-owned textured haircare line for children in major retail, redefining representation and access in consumer products.
Beyond retail, April is the host and creator of Magic Makers with April Showers, a talk show and masterclass-style series where she interviews high-impact founders and entrepreneurs who have successfully scaled their brands into retail, licensing, and beyond. The show serves as both inspiration and education for aspiring founders navigating modern paths to wealth creation.
April Showers is also the visionary behind Ms. April’s Crown & Bookstore, a multimedia platform and youth-focused initiative designed to mentor and empower the next generation of entrepreneurs through storytelling, education, and representation.
