She played in four FIFA Women’s World Cup tournaments and helped lead the team to victory 1991 and 1999. Similarly, Foudy played in three Summer Olympics, helping the American team to gold medals at the 1996 Atlanta games and again at the 2004 Olympics held in Athens, Greece.
In 2000, the U.S. and Julie Foudy earned a silver medal at the competition held in Sydney, Australia. In addition to her international play, Foudy competed professionally for the Sacramento Storm (1993, 1995-1998) and San Diego Spirit (2001-2003).
