Amanda Stevens reflects on her professional speaking journey, which began after being named Young Australian of the Year for Career Achievement in New South Wales in 2002. Although her early speaking experiences were shaky, she quickly realized her story of building a marketing agency from scratch resonated with audiences. Determined to improve, she worked intensively with a speaking coach for over a year, which helped transform her skills and confidence on stage.
As her passion for speaking grew, so did her business, until she faced the challenge of balancing both. In 2011, she sold her marketing agency to fully pursue her speaking career. Since then, Amanda has spoken to tens of thousands of people, helping them grow professionally, personally, and in business.
Her academic background in consumer psychology and marketing, paired with her hands-on business experience, gives her unique insights into customer behavior. She emphasizes the importance of preparation off-stage, including detailed briefings and even mystery shopping, to understand industries from the customer’s perspective. This enables her to deliver practical strategies that help organizations anticipate customer needs, innovate, and future-proof their business.
