As an Inspirational Speaker, I use my struggles and successes on the golf course to inspire players and non-players alike. “Seeing the Power of Interdependence” Workshop
At 19, Jeremy Poincenot was just like any other sophomore at San Diego State University—enjoying life with friends, sports, and fraternity activities, all underpinned by his perfect 20/20 vision. However, life took an unexpected turn when Jeremy started losing his sight without any prior warning. Diagnosed with Leber’s Hereditary Optic Neuropathy (LHON), a rare genetic disorder affecting only about 100 people in the U.S. annually, Jeremy’s life seemed to blur just as his vision did. But what initially appeared as a devastating blow transformed into a journey of incredible achievement and inspiration.
Jeremy’s journey into blindness did not deter his spirits; instead, it fueled his passion for overcoming adversity. A year after losing his sight, he, with his father as his guide, won the 2010 World Blind Golf Championship in England. This victory was not just a win in the game of golf but a triumph over his circumstances, propelling him into a series of further successes. To date, Jeremy has clinched three World and eight National Blind Golf Championships, showcasing not only his resilience but also his exceptional skill in adapting to and excelling in new challenges.
His experiences have turned him into a sought-after keynote speaker, where he shares his story of turning a significant loss into a series of victories.
